New IEC vice chairman reacts to appointment

Joseph Colley commonly known as Joe was recently appointed vice chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to replace Malleh Sallah, who resigned last year.

Mr. Remi Joiner, a banker was first appointed to the post which was later rescinded by the president following protest of the opposition on the grounds that Joiner is part of  National People’s Party (NPP).

Mr. Colley told The Point in an interview that he was grateful to the Almighty God and the appointing Authority for the confidence and trust.

“I will avail myself to the services of the people of the Republic of The Gambia at all times”, he said.

He has been working with the IEC for almost 20 years. The last 15 years as director of Trainings, Communication and Public Affairs.
