Munitions of war at the Dakar  Port: One arrested, new explosive discoveries

The Senegalese customs had carried out a huge crackdown by seizing a large quantity of ammunition worth 3 billion CFA francs at the Port of Dakar.

 

Decidedly, the Senegalese are not at the end of their surprises concerning this affair.

Worse, reports Liberation in its delivery, the CCTV images showed two members of the crew, Ovhuk Vitaly, Podgorodetskyi and Trofimov Vadym, tampering with the numbers of the containers in the middle of the night by taking them off and resticking them using stickers.

Customs officers counted two million units of live ammunition of 5.56 mm caliber, representing a value of 2,500,000,000 CFA francs; one hundred thousand units of 5.56 mm caliber blank bullets for a value of 5,000,000 CFA francs and one million one hundred thousand units of 9mm caliber live bullets for a value of 831,000,000 CFA francs, which makes a total of more than 3 billion CFA francs

Arriving urgently from Athens, capital of Greece, Theodore Rellos, head of Marine Corp and Designate persona shore manager of the ship, was arrested.

Beyond the criminal proceedings, Customs is claiming 14.066 billion CFA francs from the crew of the “Mv Eolika”. senenews.com
