The strengthened data collection software was developed by a national tech and consultancy company, InSIST Global Gambia Limited, which specialises in building innovative solutions for companies and institutions in various sectors, such as Education, Business and Health.
The system is expected to be used by Gambian schools and other institutions for data collection and entry to ensure the availability of data at all times.
The initiative is part of the project dubbed: ‘Youth Empowerment through TVET in The Gambia’ funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and with technical Support from the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
In his key remark, Dr. Yusupha Touray, permanent secretary of MoHERST, highlighted that the ministry has been struggling to establish a database and data collection, adding that with the coming of the grand EMIS database software into effect, such could be a thing of the past.
Dr. Touray expressed utmost gratitude and appreciation to the partners involved in the grand initiative, UNESCO, KOICA as well as InSIST Global, for the active partnership to ensure that the objective of the initiative is achieved.
He thus urged the ministry and its partners to work together, noting “if we work together, we could become the best in data collection in the sub-region.
The UNESCO representative, Ndeban Joof, highlighted the timeliness and essentiality of the database software. She furthered that the active use of the strengthened EMIS by institutions under MoHERST would make data available.
