Mar 27, 2025, 10:08 AM

The Mansakonko Area Council (MKCA) on Tuesday handed over six (6) motorcycles to (6) revenue collectors of the Council. The rationale of the presentation is to provide mobility to revenue collectors in their various destinations to enhance revenue generation for the Council.

The Acting Chief Executive officer Mr. Lamin L.M. Marri, in his keynote address, submitted that the motorcycles are geared to addressing mobility constraints for the Council. He said the motorcycles go with condition and the Council expects revenue to be collected in order to boost the economic status of the Council. He urged the beneficiaries to make best use of the cycles.

The Deputy Governor of LRR, Mr. Kebba Camara  speaking on behalf of the Governor, thanked the Council for the invitation. He commended the Council for the smart initiative as the Council has many developmental projects to undertake. He said if taxes are not collected, the Council would not be able to operate as expected. He urged the taxpayers to pay tax to ensure the 60 percent is ploughed back to them. He thanked the chairman and Council staff for the foresight.

The chairman of the Council, Mr. Landing B. Sannneh, in his opening remarks, recognised the protocols. He said it was a gratifying moment for the Council as well as the stakeholders. He revealed that the initiative was an execution of responsibility while saying that at long last the day had come. He further disclosed that the Council wants to implement developmental projects but without revenue generation, it would be difficult. He thanked the CEO and his staff for the job well done. He said the motorcycles will support the Council in revenue generation as last year there weren’t adequate motorcycles to collect revenue. He thanked the councilors for endorsing the decision.

The finance manager of the Council, Mr. Mustapha Jagne, said in 2024, the revenue collection was low. However, this year, the revenue collectors have greater responsibility in revenue generation to ensure the Council undertakes its development aspirations.
