The Conference, which kicked off on 24th October 2022 at the International Conference Center was geared towards providing a platform to brainstorm on contemporary and emerging issues impacting digital transformation and the growth and development of sustainable digital economies around the globe.
This year's theme centered on: "Digital Transformation: A path to Sustainable Digital Economy"
Hon. Minister Bah, in his keynote address, highlighted the significant role of emerging technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and block chain.
"We strongly support the spirit behind this meeting, which brings together policymakers, financiers, the private sector, and the donor community to deliberate on the sub-themes such as digital transformation, data protection, national security, emerging technologies, digital inclusion, innovation, and entrepreneurship," he remarked.
He also discussed the important role of block chain technology to drive financial advancement and other critical assets.
"By using block chain technology, one can decrease the costs of their transactions. Even making transactions worldwide is almost free of charge. When a free-of-cost option is even faster and more efficient, the general public will definitely shift from old banking ways of making financial transactions to block chain technology. Not only can finances be transferred by block chain technology, but this technology can transfer different crypto assets", he said.
Several high dignitaries were invited to the conference, among them was Deena Yahya A. Alyahya, the Secretary General of Digital Cooperation Organisation -l - a multilateral organization, headquartered in Saudi Arabia. Also, the CEO of Block chain for All, Jimmy Nguyen was a special Guest.
The first day's event concluded with the unveiling and launch of the Hon. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigera, Hon. Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami's new Book on "Advancing Nigeria's Digital Economy."
