Militants emphasised that the decision taken by Gambians in 2016 will repeat itself in 2026 with their readiness to remove Adama Barrow from power through the ballot.
Party militants randomly made these strong assurances to Darboe in various regions in the ongoing nationwide tour which is being embarked on by the party leader.
Various party militants who took the stage at various meeting grounds in different regions, assured the party leader that on December 5, 2026, the United Democratic Party will cover the rural part of the Gambia, emphasizing that therefore, the rural part of the country will be a no go area for the ruling party.
This year's countrywide tour was seen as a great opportunity for the party leader and his militants to discuss relevant issues of national concern that touched on key areas, including food security, health with effective and responsive governance.
The 2025 UDP countrywide tour began on Thursday 11th December, ahead of the 2026 presidential election, starting with effective dialogues from the North Bank Region, Upper River Region, Central River Region, Lower River Region and currently within the West Coast Region.
The tour continues today, Thursday 18 December with a rally in Sukuta and Wellingara which should and at the BUffer Zone in the Kanifing Municipal Council Friday, December 19th.
The tour is part of the UDP’s commitment to engage communities directly, listen to concerns of
Gambians across all regions, and share the party’s vision for a democratic, prosperous, and united Gambia.
Darboe was accompanied by senior party officials, National Assembly Members, regional executives, youth and women leaders.
Speaking at a rally held in Bansag, Central River Region, Darboe urged Gambians to vote for the UDP – a government he said will protect lives and properties of not only Gambians, but all residents in the country.
Speaking further at a huge rally convened in Jarra Soma, Lower River Region, Ousainu Darboe emphasized that the decision taken by Gambians in 2016 which led to the peaceful removal of former President Yahya Jammeh can be repeated with a massive voter turnout to remove the Barrow administration through the same ballot by next year. He therefore urged Gambians to rally behind him in the December Presidential race.
As part of the tour, Darboe also held similar dialogues with Gambians at other communities, including Mamud Fana an Nema in CRR, Batabutu village and Sibanor village in the Foni with national issues as center of discussion for possible solutions.
