Modou Jallow, who is alleged to have drugged a 23-year-old lady to death was on Friday remanded at Mile 2 Central Prison.

His alleged victim, N. Bass was confirmed dead by the police after she allegedly consumed a tablet (drug).

Magistrate Mben Faal of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court ordered the transfer of the said case to the high court as her court lacks the jurisdiction to proceed with the case.

According to the indictment filed before the court, the accused was charged with murder contrary to section 187 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3 laws of The Gambia.

The Prosecution alleged that the accused Modou Jallow on the 6th of October 2024 at Old Jeshwang in the Kanifing Municipality, with malice aforethought caused the death of N. Bass by giving her drink containing drug substance called sound cloud.

The accused pleaded not guilty, arguing that the drug substance was put into the drink by the victim herself.

Police prosecutor, Cadet Inspector Jallow applied that the case to be transferred to the Special Criminal Division at High Court whiles the accused be remanded at the Mile 2 Central Prison pending his arraignment before the High Court. The lower court granted the application.
