The object of the meeting or dialogue was to curb irregular migration in The Gambia.
The dialogue also focused on the roles and efforts that the media and civil society organisations can play in a bid to curb irregular migration.
Held at the Gambia Press Union, the dialogue was in line with the three-month pilot project MAJaC secured from Civil Society in Development (CISU) that aims to combat irregular migration called Innovate to Combat Irregular Migration.
The pilot project is gearing towards information gathering for a bigger product they hope to implement if approved.
Some of the challenges stated by the reporters during the dialogue are access to information from relevant sources, mobility, and access to data, among others.
Mustapha Ceesay, the project coordinator, said the dialogue was the second time they had engaged reporters from various media houses, adding that the engagement was successful because they delivered as expected.
He also said the project, if approved, intends to address the challenges of reporting irregular migration, adding that part of the project would be building the capacity of the media by addressing their challenges to report on migration issues effectively.
The project seeks to gather information and experience from organizations that are into migration in order to combat irregular migration through skills development trainings in media related fields.
