YA KUMBA JAITEH IS SPREADING FALSE AND MISLEADING
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE ALKALO OF LATRIKUNDA GERMAN
Ms Ya Kumba Jaiteh of the United Democratic Party (UDP) is spreading false, reckless, and misleading allegations in the media; claiming that the Alkalo of Latrikunda German, Alhaji Omar M.O. Faal issued 13,000 attestations during the 2026 supplementary voter registration exercise.
According to the records of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the Alkalo of Latrikunda German provided only 132 attestations, not 13,000.
The difference between 132 and 13,000 is not a minor discrepancy; it is a gross and extraordinary misrepresentation of the facts. Journalists, interested parties and the public can independently verify these figures directly with the IEC.
Of the 132 attestations, only two (2) were challenged at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Revising Court, and we are waiting for the court to publish its decision on those two challenges.
The Alkalo travelled to the United Kingdom on 26 August 2026 and remains there as of the date of this statement. Before his departure, he was neither served with a summons nor requested to appear before any Revising Court concerning the two challenged attestations.
Following Ms Jaiteh’s false claim about 13,000 attestations, someone wrote on social media that the Alkalo failed to appear in court but was seen at a political rally. That claim is also false because the Alkalo is still outside the country.
Apparently, Ms Jaiteh’s false claims have led to more falsehoods and malicious statements. As a lawyer and former National Assembly Member, Ms. Ya Kumba Jaiteh should know that spreading falsehoods is not only improper, but also against professional codes of conduct and ethical standards.
