
The letter dated 16 May 2025 through Mrs. Bensouda’s legal counsel, Senior Lawyer Antouman A.B. Gaye, seeks D144 million in damages for “defamation” and “malicious falsehood.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Kurang has also filed a counter claim intending at repairing damages to his character as a result of the legal threats by the former lead counsel.
In a letter obtained by The Point, Kurang's lawyers demand retraction, apology, and compensation from Amie Bensouda over all the damages she alleges him of committing.
An excerpt of letter signed by Mr Kurang’s lawyers reads: “Our client is demands the following: A formal retraction of your client’s false and malicious publication, given the same prominence as the original offensive content. A public letter of apology, issued through our offices, and published on the same platform used to disseminate the defamatory statements, compensatory damages amounting to two hundred million dalasi (D200, 000000) for the hardship and distress caused to our client due to your client’s reckless publication and immediate cessation of further defamatory publications regarding our client.”
The letter also indicates a notice of legal action stating that if a positive response addressing the demands outlined above is not received within 14 days of this letter, they will be compelled to initiate appropriate legal proceedings to restore their client’s reputation.
