The venerable Islamic scholar, Sheikh Alh. Omar Ceesay, on Saturday called on the Muslim Ummah particularly young Islamic scholars whom he said are in the course of delivering the legislation of Allah to Mankind to continue to exercise more patience and discipline in the cause of propagating Islam.

He urged them to shun the dictates of their heart without the light and guidance of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

The 79 year-old Mauritania-Saudi trained scholar made the assertion at the 36th annual Gamo of Baddibou Salikene. He said the Noble Qur’an teaches Muslims about the nations of people and individuals that were blessed with financial wealth, and physical strength, but they refused to live their lives according to the regulations of Allah (S.W.T.).

He urged Muslims to show respect and obedience to their parents as long as they are alive, citing that parental care is one of the best practices in Islam. “Be kind to your parents and treat them in the best possible manners. Do not shout on them and do not disobey in anything within the ambit of Islam.

The disobedience, he said was why Allah destroyed them and their wealth. He said this happened to the people in the past, it is happening now and sure it will happen in the future until the Day of Judgment.

He further called on the Ummah to fear Allah the way He should be feared, noting that Islam does not belong to anybody except Allah. He said Allah brought Islam for everyone and therefore we should all be mindful of our deeds and also respect those that Allah has given authority to in our religious affairs.

Sheikh Omar said Allah does not leave man without a system to regulate his conduct and behavior. He observed that the legislation of Allah is to eternally make man’s life the best on this earth so that he will be happy in this life and in the hereafter.

He talked about the importance of reciting the Holy Qur’an individually and in group, saying the reward is awarded in both ways.
