The Grand Commander of the Order of the Republic of The Gambia is awarded to individuals who have rendered unparalleled service to the nation or have made significant international contributions towards promoting peace and cooperation among nations.
As the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) celebrates its Golden Jubilee in 2024, marking five decades of empowering its 57 member countries, The Gambia stands as a prime example of the Bank's development model. This model prioritizes sustainable growth and community empowerment through strategic partnerships, focusing on targeted investments in key sectors like energy, food security, infrastructure, and education. Over the past four decades, the IsDB has allocated more than USD 1.18 billion to support The Gambian development initiatives across 162 operations and initiatives, aiming to create a self-reliant Gambian society equipped to address future challenges.
Upon receiving the award, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser said, "This honor reflects our collective efforts at IsDB Group towards sustainable development and prosperity. It underscores the importance of our mission to foster economic growth and solidarity among member countries and beyond. I am deeply grateful for this recognition and dedicated to continuing our impactful work."
Dr. Al Jasser is on an official visit to the country to attend the 15th Session of the OIC Islamic Summit, scheduled to take place on the 4th and 5th of May.
This recognition reinforces the solid relationship between The Gambia and the Islamic Development Bank, underpinning a shared dedication to pursuing economic growth, sustainable development, and mutual prosperity.
