For the Bantanjang Ward under the Brikama Area Council, three candidates have been nominated: Bakary M. Manga (Independent), Abdoulie Badjie of the National People’s Party (NPP), and Alagie Njie (Independent).
In the Kaiaf Ward under the Mansakonko Area Council, two candidates will contest the seat: Omar Touray of the NPP and Sulayman Sanneh of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
The IEC announced that the campaign period will run from 29 December 2025 to 8 January 2026, during which candidates are expected to engage voters in accordance with electoral laws and regulations.
Reaffirming its mandate of fair play, integrity, and transparency, the IEC urged all stakeholders; political parties, candidates, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the campaign and on polling day.
The by-elections are expected to test party strength at the local government level and provide voters in the affected wards an opportunity to choose their representatives.
