Professor Pierre Gomez, Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, has officially launched the Africa EdTech 2030 Vision & Plan alongside the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) EdTech Policy Initiative, marking a major step in Africa’s digital education transformation.

The plan outlines a clear, standards-based and vendor-neutral roadmap to strengthen education systems across the continent through technology-driven solutions. It promotes quality, inclusivity, and resilience in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), ensuring equal access to learning for all.

Aligned with STISA 2034, the initiative supports Africa’s shift toward an innovation-led economy and places strong emphasis on STEM and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip young people with future-ready digital and technical skills.

Stakeholders describe the policy as a key move to harmonise standards, improve learning outcomes, and build a sustainable, future-ready education ecosystem. Partners, including RESPECT, have pledged support through open, standards-based solutions to ensure no learner is left behind.
