At the 3rd National Achievement Awards (NAA) 2025, organised by AWOL-Gambia, the Gambia Tourism Board received a special award in recognition of excellence in service delivery. The citation highlighted GTBoard’s strong commitment to environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and community empowerment, as well as its contribution to positive socio-economic development through the promotion of responsible tourism in The Gambia.
This honour adds to an impressive list of international awards secured by GTBoard in 2025. In September, at the Akwaaba African Travel Market Expo in Nigeria, the Board was named Best Tourism Marketing Agency in Africa, recognising its innovative and impactful destination marketing across key source markets. Earlier in June, GTBoard also received the Tourism Marketing Agency of the Year – West Africa award from African Travel Quarterly (ATQ), presented during the 8th Accra Weizor Conference in Accra, Ghana.
In November, The Gambia once again made a strong impression on the global stage at the World Travel Market in London, where the Gambia Tourism Board won the award for WTM Best Stand, reflecting excellence in destination presentation, branding, and stakeholder engagement at one of the world’s most influential tourism trade events.
Further strengthening the Board’s achievements, the Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board was recently honoured in London with the Best Tourism Public Sector Official award at the Africa Tourism Awards (ATA). The award recognised his leadership, vision, and dedication to advancing The Gambia’s tourism sector, strengthening international partnerships, and positioning the country as a competitive, sustainable, and culturally rich destination.
Collectively, the local and international accolades received by the Gambia Tourism Board in 2025 underscore a year marked by strategic success, effective leadership, and an unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism development.
As the year draws to a close, these honours not only celebrate past achievements but also reaffirm GTBoard’s mandate to drive inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism for the benefit of The Gambia and her people.
In recognition of the collaborative nature of tourism development, the Gambia Tourism Board dedicates these awards to all tourism stakeholders across the public and private sectors, as well as to its Governing Board of Directors, whose collective efforts continue to propel the industry forward.
