GRA No.2 advises staff to show high sense of duty

Deputy Commissioner General and Head of Domestic Taxes Essa Jallow of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), has advised staff to always demonstrate a high sense of commitment towards assignment.

He also challenged regional GRA staff to always act professionally and in accordance with the Revenue Act and adopt the culture of team spirit which GRA is known for. 

Mr. Jallow gave the advice during the recently concluded GRA Board and Management tour across regional outlets.

DCG Jallow outlined the objective of the tour, saying it was meant to interact with regional staff, know the challenges and achievements registered by various domestic tax offices.

According to Mr. Jallow, the GRA Board was very impressed with what they saw on the grounds specially the cordial working relationship between the GRA staff and their sister security forces. He advised them to continue the momentum as they are all working towards one objective, which is national interest.

He said GRA cannot render its responsibility of collecting revenue for national development in the absence of security and stability.

Mr. Jallow said that the GRA Board and Management would not only sit at the main office waiting for reports. He added that they go and meet their staff as a source of motivation and morale boost.

The governor of Upper River Region, Samba Bah, expressed profound gratitude to the GRA Board and Management headed by the Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe for the foresight in meeting their staff at regional outlets.

“Personally, I must commend the leadership of GRA for taking this giant step, which will no doubt go a long way in boosting the morale of GRA staff on the ground and encourage them to do more,” he expressed.

Governor Bah extolled Customs Manager Seedy Kinteh for the role he plays in Upper River Region, since he assumed office as a manager.

“He is very instrumental and supportive towards national interest,” he said of Mr. Kinteh.

Governor Bah equally commended the management and staff of GRA for the unprecedented achievement in meeting their annual revenue target.
