Gov't White Paper to reject all TRRC amnesty

May 23, 2022, 11:06 AM

Impeccable source has told The Point that the government White Paper which will be issued on Wednesday 25 May rejected all recommendations of TRRC in granting amnesty to some security personnel including Sanna Sabally ex-vice chairman  of AFPRC, who the TRRC said had admitted killing many security personnel during the November 1994 abortive coup .

During the TRRC deliberations, at least 393 witnesses had testified ex-president Yahya Jammeh ordered the killings of 250 Gambians and non Gambians.

The TRRC Amnesty Committee believes the amnesty was necessary because Sanna Sabally was cooperative and had given them all relevant information about the junta in executing many people.

The White Paper is expected to imbed all the recommendations of TRRC for the prosecution of Yahya Jammeh who lives in exile in Equatorial Guinea and 69 other perpetrators, the sources added.
