Gov't gives over D6M to GNOC for 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Government of The Gambia recently gave over six million dalasis (D6,000,000) to Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) for the country's participation in the 2026 Commonwealth Games to be hosted in West-Central Scotland.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Olympic House in Bakau, Executive Director of GNOC, Muhammed K. Janneh, disclosed that they had sent a budget of D7 million but government gave 6 million dalasi. Janneh stated that GNOC would fund the rest.

Second vice president of GNOC and Chef de Mission for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Bakary K. Jammeh, expressed their sincere appreciation to the Government of The Gambia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council, national federation coaches, technical officials, partners, sponsors, volunteers and members of the media for their support to Gambian sport.

"We are grateful to our athletes, whose dedication, discipline and commitment continue to make The Gambia proud," Jammeh said.
