The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has been dealt a blow as the party’s national President Dr. Sabally announced he has joined the National People's Party (NPP).

Dr. Sabally is the latest from the GDC to join Barrow's NPP.

President Adama Barrow with a high powered delegation yesterday began a month long nationwide tour as required by the constitution.

He would be meeting local people to discuss issues affecting them.

At a meeting in Essau, in the North Bank Region Dr. Sabally said he had officially decided to join Barrow’s team.

According to him, the reason for joining President Barrow is that he has seen that the president is working towards the development of the country in all aspects and that the president has the interest of the people at heart.

He vowed to bring more GDC supporters to join NPP.

He has reaffirmed his commitment to rally his support behind President Adama Barrow.

Bakary Badjie, the minister of Youth and Sports, said the development of young people in the country is among the priorities of the government of Adama Barrow. He urged the young people of the region to take up the opportunities provided for them by the government.

It could be recalled that the GDC’s Jali Soriba Suso was the first to announce his defection to the NPP over the weekend.
