Gambia Standards Bureau honours President Barrow, eminent personalities

The Gambia Standards Bureau over the weekend honoured His Excellency President Adama Barrow with a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging his unwavering support, visionary leadership, and commitment to strengthening the work and mandate of The Gambia Standards Bureau.

The award was received on his behalf by the Minister for Trade, Hon. Mod Ceesay at an award ceremony held at the Bakadaji Hotel on Saturday 31st January 2026.

Other eminent personalities that received the award include permanent secretaries both present and past, board of directors of the Bureau and some staff, who have contributed and worked assiduously in the growth and development of the Bureau.

Dr. Ernest Aubee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bureau, was among the key personalities who received an award during the ceremony.

Established in 2021, the Bureau for the first time hosted its first-ever awards night; a memorable evening dedicated to recognising excellence, dedication, and outstanding service of certain individuals.

Moreover, this historic event also marked an important milestone in celebrating the people and partnerships driving the Bureau’s progress.  

Reacting to the development, Dr. Ernest Aubee, expressed appreciation to be associated with the event as is it the first of its kind since the establishment of the Bureau.

To this end, he thanked all those who supported the Bureau in its growth and development over the years.

Dr. Aubee also lauded the commitment of both the staff and management of the Bureau for their hard work and diligence toward the development of the Bureau especially in ensuring that the bureau developed over 500 standards covering all aspects of the Gambia economy ranging from agriculture, trade, engineering, electricity and petroleum products.

Since the inception of the board and with support from its management and staff, and the Government, he acknowledged that the bureau has registered remarkable gains in the areas of standard and conformity assessment in the country.

This, he added seeks to improve the living condition of the Gambia and help the process of industrialisation and contributes to a very competitive and robust economy.
