Gambia set to host ECOWAS Judicial Council Chief Justices meeting

The Judiciary of The Gambia under his Lordship, Honourable Hassan B. Jallow, Chief Justice of The Gambia is honoured to host the upcoming Meeting of ECOWAS Judicial Council Chief Justices set to take place from April 29th to May 1st, 2024. This prestigious event will gather distinguished Chief Justices from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Benin, and The Gambia.

This meeting serves as a vital platform for regional collaboration and exchange of ideas aimed at advancing the rule of law, promoting judicial independence, and enhancing access to justice within the West African sub-region.

Mandated to review the rules of procedure of and other laws relating to the ECOWAS Court of Justice and to make recommendations for the improvement of its operational efficiency, the Council's meeting will provide an invaluable opportunity for participating Chief Justices to engage in constructive dialogue, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to addressing common challenges facing the administration of justice in our respective countries.

We anticipate that the insights gained and the relationships fostered during this meeting will contribute significantly to the promotion of judicial excellence and the advancement of the legal profession in West Africa.
