TITA Universal Services Ltd is an IT digital firm based in Nigeria that provides Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated timetable to Tertiary and Higher Education Institutions. The mobile application enables students to do their course registrations, pay their tuition fees, access their CGPA, and send their course assignments to their lecturers through the application.
The application is designed to ease internal lecturer-student communication enabling lecturers to announce re-scheduled lectures and optimize lecture venues and generate revenue to the Institutions through adverts put on the application. Additionally, the application seeks to address the time-table clashes to improve the quality of education in the tertiary and higher education institutions in The Gambia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Pierre Gomez highlighted that the initiative came following the visit of President Adama Barrow to the Federal Republic of Nigeria who conceived the TITA Mobile Application initiative to be introduced in The Gambia with the desire to inject innovation solutions to the tertiary and higher education institutions.
He revealed that the Gambia government recognizes the impact of innovative technological solutions thus deemed it necessary to invest handsomely in technological processes to place the country’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on a firm footing to compete with the world’s best universities.
Minister Gomez stated that the launching of the App will serve as a paradigm shift from a manual operating system to a technologically innovative driven system that will allow students and lecturers to seamlessly interact efficiently, faster, thereby making timetable clashes history, optimizing lecture venues, and enabling students to pay tuition fees online.
He said the technology would enable students to access their CGPA, University administrators monitoring the workload of each lecturer, students training on entrepreneurial skills, and universities generating revenue through adverts placed on the application.
He said that the launching of the App for the tertiary and higher education institutions is a transformative step towards making higher education more quality and accessible.
He added that academic institutions of learning had been beset with operating on manual platforms, making the learning environment “grossly inefficient and inaccessible to many”, thus this new initiative marks the end of the use of manual platforms in the higher education institutions in The Gambia.
“The mobile application is designed to be seamlessly interactive, fast and accessible to all students, lecturers and university administrators of the Public Universities across the length and breadth of the country,” he said.
He thanked the Gambia Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Mahmadou Moussa (Papa) Njie for his exemplary diplomatic skills in facilitating the meeting with TITA Universal Services during his official visit to Nigeria in February this 2025.
For her part, Aisha Aminu Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TITA, revealed TITA as a smart timetable platform developed by a dedicated team of young innovators, predominantly women, passionate about using technology to solve real problems in education.
She said that what makes TITA special is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all tool; rather it’s a three-part ecosystem, designed specifically to meet the needs of the students, via the TITA App.
With the TITA student app, she stated, users receive a personalized electronic timetable, updated in real-time, which eliminates the confusion of paper schedules, keeps students informed about class changes, and helps them stay organised and prepared.
She added that they also receive lectures through Lecti, which empowers lecturers to manage and update their schedules directly, adding that they can cancel and reschedule all while staying in sync with students, as it’s practical, intuitive, and gives lecturers full control over their teaching timetable. She concluded that the School Management, through an Admin Panel, will feature an Automatic Timetable Generator, a powerful engine that creates a full, optimised academic timetable for the entire school in just 3 seconds.
In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Jainaba Jagne, Permanent Secretary of MoHERST, said the initiative represents a bold step in their collective journey to transform higher education in The Gambia.
“The introduction of the TITA Mobile App is timely and well-aligned with the Ministry’s broader vision of improving quality, accessibility, and efficiency across all our tertiary and higher education institutions,” she said.
