Gambia among 15 most peaceful countries in Africa

The Global Peace Index, GPI, has released its list of 2023 most peaceful countries in 163 independent states and territories.

Iceland has been named as the most peaceful country in the world, while in Africa, Mauritius is ranked first, Botswana 2nd and Sierra Leone 3rd.

 

Some other West African countries such as Nigeria failed to make the list, while others in the region are battling with security challenges ranging from terrorism to banditry and other criminal activities.

The following  are the 15 most peaceful countries in Africa: Mauritius (1), Botswana (2), Sierra Leone (3), Ghana (4), Senegal (5), Madagascar (6), Namibia (7), The Gambia (8), Zambia(9), Liberia (10), Malawi (11), Tunisia (12), Equatorial Guinea (13),  Angola (14), Morocco (15).
