Former GPA MD appointed as deputy GCC MD

Reliable sources have informed The Point that former managing director, Gambia Port Authority (GPA), Lamin L. Sanyang, has been appointed deputy managing director at the National Food Security and Processing Marketing Corporation known as GCC.

When contacted, Mr. Sanyang confirmed the development.

He thanked The Gambia government for his new appointment, saying his it’s a clear indication of the truth coming into reality.

“I will do my best to live up to expectation,” he stated.

Mr. Sanyang’s appointment came into effect this month with him calling for team work to ensure that they achieve their goal as an institution.

Bio

Lamin L. Sanyang was born on Monday 4 March 1971 in Bitta village, Foni Brefet District, West Coast Region.

He attended Ndemban Primary School from 1976/77 to 1983/84 and St. Augustine’s High School from 1984 to 1989/90.

After his GCE O’ Levels, Mr. Sanyang was appointed English and Civics Teachers at Crab Island Secondary Technical School from 1990 to 1992. He gained employment at Gamstar Insurance Company as a marketing officer from 1993 to 1994.

Mr. sanyang was appointed Operations Clerk at the Gambia Ports Authority in 1994 and rose through the ranks.

He acquired his diploma in Maritime, Ports Operations and Management at the University of Singapore in 2005 and obtained his Master of Science degree in International Logistics and Transport at the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom in 2007.

He was promoted to the position of Operation and Logistics manager in 2008, director of Traffic Operations in 2013 and managing director of The Gambia Ports Authority from 16 December 2014 to 10 March 2017.

During his tenure as managing director at GPA, Mr. Sanyang was described as uncompromising and a man of principle when it comes to work ethics.
