Oct 23, 2023, 11:04 AM

Her Excellency the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay has presented her credentials to the President of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Hage Gottfried Geingob.

In her presentation on Thursday 19 October 2023 to the Namibian President, H.E. Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay stated:

Your Excellency, Mr President,

It is with a deep sense of honour and happiness that I present to you, Sir, the Letters by which His Excellency President Adama  Barrow accredits me as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of The Gambia to the Republic of Namibia. This solemn ceremony today marks another milestone in our collective endeavours to strengthen even further, the excellent relations that have always existed between Namibia and The Gambia. Like most African countries, the Government and people of The Gambia had demonstrated unflinching support and solidarity to the people of Namibia during their long and bitter struggle for independence. It was in this context that the Government of The Gambia at the time facilitated the process for some Namibian students to pursue their education in The Gambia. It was a pleasure to have those high school students mingling with their Gambian counterparts in perfect camaraderie, striving to achieve knowledge and academic excellence. I have no doubt that they all have fond memories of their stay in The Gambia.

Your Excellency,

It is in this spirit too that I intend to contribute my modest but sincere contribution to our common and ardent desire to promote even further Namibian-Gambian friendship and cooperation. In the course of my tenure. I pledge my availability at all times to explore possible areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of our two countries and peoples. In this regard, the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement would certainly stand us in good stead when the two sides are ready to move ahead.

Your Excellency,

As I embark on my tour of duty in your beautiful country, I am confident that I can count on your support and that of your Government to make my tenure both successful and rewarding.

Long live Namibian-Gambian friendship and cooperation.

I thank you, Sir.
