 Ex-CDS Drammeh appointed deputy Gambian ambassador in DC

Former Gambian Chief of Defence Staff, Yankuba Drammeh has been appointed as deputy ambassador to the Gambian Mission in Washington DC, according official sources. 

A career military officer, Drammeh served in various capacities in The Gambia National Army rising to the top position of Chief of Defence Staff – a position he held with honour and distinction until his retirement in October 2023.

 

He had served in various United Nations peace missions in troubled spots across Africa and had served as Deputy Chief of Mission at The Gambia’s Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York.

 

His appointment to the Washington office is expected to inject greater discipline in the mission and help drive the office forward.
