Essa Wally re-elected ACCFA president

Members of the Association of Customs, Clearing and Forwarding Agencies (ACCFA) have unanimously re-elected Essa Wally as the president to run the affairs of the Association in the next three years.

Mr. Wally was re-elected during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ACCFA held on 28 December 2023. 

The AGM of the ACCFA was presided over by the Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Conference Centre.

In his goodwill message to the members of the Association, CG Darboe hailed ACCFA for being a well organised association.

He spoke on the significant role the ACCFA plays and their cordial partnership with the GRA over the years.

According to Mr. Darboe, GRA cannot implement its roles without the participation of the clearing and forwarding agencies. He therefore commended the leadership of the Association for their commitment, dedication in complementing the efforts of GRA in collecting the “much-needed revenue” for government.

In his welcoming remarks, ACCFA President Essa Wally, said the AGM was “aimed to reflect upon the accomplishments of the past year, make important decisions for the future, and strengthen the bond that unites us as a cohesive Association.”

According to Mr Essa Wally, the AGM was a testament to their commitment to transparency, accountability, and collective progress.

“It is a time to celebrate the achievements of the past, acknowledge the challenges we have faced, and chart a course towards continued growth and success,” President Wally stated.

According to him, in the face of unprecedented circumstances, the ACCFA has demonstrated unwavering determination, adaptability and an unwavering commitment to its mission.

“It is through the dedication and hard work of each member that we have persevered and continued to make a positive impact,” President Wally cited.

“As we embark on this Annual General Meeting, let us reflect upon some of the achievements we have registered, signing of an MOU with the GRA, collaboration with the GPA, GRA and the SMG to host our visitors from Ghana which has culminated to an international recognition.”

“The Executive is also in an exhaustive research to sign an MOU with the GPA,” he revealed.

President Wally advised ACCFA members and urged them to reaffirm their dedication to excellence, integrity, and the pursuit of our shared goals.

“Together, we have the power to shape our future, make a difference in the lives of those we serve, and create lasting change.”

Meanwhile all the other positions but one were re-elected.
