Dr. Amadou Scattered Janneh, a former United Democratic Party (UDP) executive member, is throwing his weight behind the National People's Party (NPP), praising their clear achievements and vision for The Gambia's future.

Speaking via a video on Skypower Radio & TV Services, Dr. Janneh highlighted the party's progress in areas like electrification, education, healthcare, and infrastructure and also the NPP's touting achievements like universal electricity access by 2025, 110% civil servant salary hikes, and investments in key sectors.

He indicated that Barrow led government also focuses on service delivery, infrastructure, and economic growth.

He emphasised that in his view, the NPP stands out as the only party capable of presenting a clear and structured development plan for the country’s future.

Dr. Janneh also revealed that although he has been working with the party for the past three years, he intentionally avoided appearing on political platforms or participating in rallies, maintaining a relatively low public profile during that period.

He claimed that he left the United Democratic Party (UDP) after the 2021 presidential elections and subsequently aligned himself with the NPP.

During the local government elections, specifically the chairmanship race, a leaked audio circulated on social media in which Dr. Janneh is allegedly heard pledging support for NPP candidate Sheriff Seedy Ceesay, while encouraging others to back him as well. The audio is said to be linked to the West Coast Region chairmanship elections for the Brikama Area Council.

According to the allegations, he described Sheriff Seedy Ceesay as more competent than his opponent, Yankuba Darboe of the UDP, who is the current Chairman of the Brikama Area Council.
