The Senegalo-Gambian Permanent Secretariat (PSSG) is an Interstate Institution and Cooperation established in 2012 between The Republic of Senegal and The Republic of The Gambia to reinforce the fruitful cooperation between the two countries. Both the Executive Secretary and the Deputy Executive Secretary are of the ranks of Ambassador, and Dr Barry succeeds His Excellency Mohamed BS Jallow, the present Vice President of the Republic of the Gambia.
Dr Barry has an excellent track record in public service and academia. Among his enviable achievements are the World Bank negotiations in 2013 that provided scholarships to more than 100 Gambians in Masters and PhD in Sciences, agriculture, and health; the renegotiations with the Islamic Development Bank for the construction of the UTG Faraba Banta Campus; the considerable increase in scholarships to the UTG, MDI and GTTI when he was PS MoHERST; the establishment of the National Human Rights Commission secretariat and the targets achieved in record time that ranked the NHRC in Status A; and the full accreditation of the International Open University, making it a leading private online university both locally and internationally.
Dr Barry is an excellent choice for this position, being a perfect bilingual and briefly serving as a diplomat in France.
