President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has announced the appointment of Aminata Touré, former general supervisor of his 2024 presidential campaign, to lead the restructuring of the “Coalition Diomaye President.”

In an information letter dated November 11, 2025, President Faye explained that the decision follows months of internal stagnation and division within the coalition, despite increasing public interest and requests for membership from new political figures and organisations aligned with its ideals.

He recalled that on September 10, 2025, he had formally notified Madam Aïda Mbodj of the end of her mission as head of the coalition, expressing gratitude for her outstanding commitment and leadership during the March 24, 2024, presidential victory.

The president stated that the reorganisation aims to make the coalition “more functional, better structured, and fully efficient” in advancing their shared political project. He emphasised that the process must be conducted inclusively, with participation from all members of the Conference of Leaders.

“In light of the need to restore cohesion and strengthen operational efficiency, I have chosen Madam Aminata Touré to lead this process,” the letter read.

President Faye expressed confidence that Touré’s “experience, dedication, and unifying spirit” will be instrumental in transforming the coalition into a stronger and more effective political force; one that will continue to promote the positive achievements of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

The letter concluded with an appeal for unity and collective commitment toward consolidating the coalition’s vision and ensuring its continued contribution to national governance.
