In a sustained crackdown against migrant smuggling, officers of the GID Migration Management Unit, on Monday, 5 January 2026, conducted an operation at Batokunku, disrupting an irregular migration attempt and intercepting 107 would-be migrants.
The intercepted migrants comprise 60 Gambians, 22 Senegalese, 17 Guineans, and 8 other nationals. The group included 92 males, 15 females, and 6 minors.
The GID reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against migrant smuggling and calls for stronger community cooperation to dismantle smuggling networks and safeguard the lives of Gambians and other nationals.
