Clerk Sise hands over office to Kalipha MM Mbaye

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Momodou A. Sise, has officially handed over the Office of the Clerk to Kalipha MM Mbye. 

The handing over yesterday, attended by both Majority and Minority leaders was presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, who is also the Chairperson of the National Assembly Authority.

The handover followed Mr Sise’s retirement after serving as Clerk since 2018. His successor, Mr Mbye, was appointed during the Second Extra-Ordinary Session of the 2024 Legislative Year on 19th October 2024, following a motion tabled by Hon. Billay G. Tunkara, Majority Leader and Member of the National Assembly Authority. Mr Mbye officially has assumed office since yesterday.

During the meeting, Hon. Jatta acknowledged Mr Sise’s contributions to the National Assembly and expressed appreciation for his service.

“We thank you for selfless service you have rendered to the assembly, you have contributed immensely to the development of the house and it will not be taken for granted. We wish you all the best in your future endeavorsm,” he said.

Mr Sise thanked Members of the National Assembly and staff for their support, stating that it was a privilege to serve the institution. He expressed confidence in Mr Mbye’s ability to take the Assembly forward.

Mr Mbye, who previously held the position of Deputy Clerk, Legal and Procedural Matters, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to continue working towards the advancement of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly recognised Mr Sise’s years of service and wished him well in his retirement, while welcoming Mr Mbye to his new role.
