The PAS committee was tasked to review and select seven members out of nine for appointment as commissioners of the Victims Reparations Commission.
The report was laid by the chairperson of the committee Hon. Sulayman Jammeh, Member for Bundung-Ka Kunda constituency.
Laying the report, he stated: “In choosing the qualified members to the Commission, the Committee based its thorough selection on the Report of the Selection Panel, the Victims Reparations Act 2024, and the curriculum vitae of the potential candidates.”
He said that in accordance with the Victims Reparations Act and having reviewed the report of the Selection Panel, the committee approved appointment for Dr Badara Loum as Chairperson and a representative of Victims, Ms Isatou Ndow as Vice Chairperson and a representative of the disability organization, Ms Isatou Jammeh as Commissioner and a representative of the victims, Mr Abdou Manneh as Commissioner and a youth representative, Ms Saffiatou Touray as Commissioner and a youth representative, Dr Babanding Daffeh as Commissioner, and Mr Ebou Faye Njie as Commissioner.
He added that in considering and selecting a member of the Victims Reparations Commission, one of who must be differently abled - from a disability organization, the committee duly appointed Isatou Ndow.
“Isatou Ndow is the Vice Principal of the Gambia College, though currently on contract. She has experience as far back as 1985, where she started voluntary work for the Gambia Association of the Physically Disabled,” Hon. Jammeh justified.
He added: “She served as treasurer of the association for more than ten years, served as chairperson of the Education and Welfare Committee responsible for sponsoring disabled students, coordinator of the disabled women’s committee and project, and a member of the Disabled Federation. She has overseen vast policy development, implementation, planning and curriculum development.”
