Chiefs, alkalolu urged to protect community lands

Lands, Regional Government, Religious and NGO Affairs Minister Hon. Sheriff Abba Sanyang has urged chiefs and heads of villages (alkalolu) of all regions to protect their homes and available lands for farming purposes and other future community needs.

He emphasised the need to reserving the lands which he said could be used for farming practice, constructions of homes, schools and hospitals among others.

Minister Sanyang was speaking on Saturday night at a joint meeting organised by Basse and Jimara constituencies held at Mankamang Kunda – the president’s home village in the Upper River Region at the ongoing 2022 Meet the People’s Tour under theme: ‘Together we can accelerate socio-economic growth and maintain peace and stability’.

The tour has also regarded by communities of Upper River Region communities as a great opportunity to raise their concerns so that they could be looked into by the president and the entourage.

Since the beginning of the tour, Minister Sanyang has taken the opportunity to constantly engage chiefs and alkalolu in the various regions to be protective of their homes, farm lands and bushes for future uses.
