A canoe carrying 97 people from The Gambia arrived on the night of Tuesday 27 to Wednesday 28 January 2026 on the Spanish island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands, emergency services said.
Passengers were picked up when they arrived at the port, the report stated, adding that more details regarding the safety of the migrants will be made public.
