“The time is long overdue for us to work collectively, and do away with hate, extremism, religious divides, tribalism and insults that pose threats to our unity and stability,” he told party militants and sympathisers.
He highlighted his achievements as president and reassured Gambians of continuous development.
“We have built bridges, constructed a massive rural road network, improved access to electricity and water supply, and built schools within the short five-year span of our transition,” Mr. Barrow said. “We have strengthened the rule of law, security among others. We will therefore continue to work hand-in-hand with any patriotic citizens for better development.”
The NPP leader flagged that the country should resolve to be among the new generation of Gambians and Africans who would define and fulfill their mission so that future generations would be inspired to copy their great service to humanity.
“Let us, individually and collectively, preserve the trust and confidence reposed in us by the Party, the Government and the People,” he said.
Barrow thanked his political affiliates, saying “it is due to your laudable cooperation that the country is reaching its development goals.
He challenged the next NPP executive to continue with the noble efforts of helping the government deliver to the nation a broader and more concrete development pattern.
Dembo Bojang, the national president, NPP, urged all partisans to be on continuous campaign. “We should do away with fun gatherings all the time and focus more on campaigns to make sure our party messages reaches all corners of the country regularly,” he advised.
He further advised the president to continue being humble for his citizens and welcome people for collective work.
