Barrow assures Hajj Commission of gov’t support to affordability

His Excellency President Adama Barrow received the leadership of the National Hajj Commission at the State House in Banjul on Wednesday.

The President congratulated the members of the National Hajj Commission for working diligently on the welfare of Gambian pilgrims throughout the Hajj process.

As the Saudi regulations on Hajj are evolving, President Barrow encouraged them to adapt in order to ensure better participation of Gambians in the spiritual journey. He assured them of continuous Government support in reforming Hajj operations and keeping this essential service affordable to Gambians.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Amirul Hajj Sheikh Imam Ebrima Jarju thanked President Barrow for granting them audience. Sheikh Jarju briefed the President on the previous pilgrimage to Mecca, challenges encountered and the ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Hajj seasons.

He expressed gratitude to The Gambia Government for the good working relation through the Ministries of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs and Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad as well as The Gambia International Airlines and others.
