The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brikama Area Council (BAC) has reaffirmed his council’s commitment to embrace best practices of good governance, socio-economic justice and citizen –focused service delivery.

Modou Jonga cited that all what the council solicits is the total cooperation of the public to pay their respective dues to enable the council to continue delivering the expected services to its communities.

He made this appeal while delivering a speech at the handing over of 10 new brand motorbikes worth (D485,000)  to its revenue collectors. The initiative was meant to ease mobility constraints affecting revenue collectors at the council.

The CEO who spoke about the importance of motorbikes to the council’s revenue collection, said the motorbikes would greatly help in the realisation of the revenue generation component of their Public Finance Management Strategy 2021-2025.

He added that the motorbikes are also expected to enhance routine inspections, supervision and monitoring of their activities and programmes; notably in the area of solid waste management.

CEO Jonka used the opportunity to thank the taxpayers’ contribution toward the realisation of these motorbikes for the revenue collectors.

He was quick to confirm that it is from the proceeds of the paid taxes that they were able to purchase the motorbikes and undertake the implementation of major projects in the communities; such as water and electricity expansion, provision of basic and essential services and the construction of markets among others.
