Alleged PIU shooter Ousainou Bojang has told the High Court in Banjul that the cell he has been occupying had no window, it would get hot and sometimes to breathe properly was a problem.

Testifying on Tuesday, he said the cell could take only one person and “it is a confinement cell”.  He added that he would have to lie on the floor close to the cell door so he could get some air to breathe.

He also said the chamber pot where he would urinate and defecate “smells very bad” in the cell, which he testified “disturbs” his breathing inside the cell because on opening it, the scent would permeate the whole room.

He said further that the key to his cell “is not with the prison officers” but with the Riot Squad, adding that every day he would be the first person they would lock inside the cell and the last person they would let out in the morning.

“So, I have a feeling that these people are actually suffocating me, because I am very tired in that cell,” he lamented.
