A source who spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity has confirmed the development, saying: "Police in the NBR have launched a massive manhunt for the suspect."
The incident happened last week.
"The matter was reported to the Farafenni Police Station and investigations were opened immediately," our source said.
The deputy spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force, ASP Modou Musa Sissawo, couldn't be reached for comments at the time of going to press.
However, what is clear is that the suspect was not arrested at the time of going to press as reports have it that he ran into the neighbouring country, Senegal.
