2 in dock for felony, stealing of over D30,000 worth of items

Ousman Ceesay and Samba  Camara on February 5 2024, appeared before Principal Magistrate Isatou Sallah Mbaye of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for felony and stealing.

The duo was charged with conspiracy to commit felony therein wit housebreaking, burglary and stealing items worth thirty-two thousand eight hundred and seven dalasis (D32,807).

The accused persons were charged with conspiracy to commit felony contrary to section 368, house breaking and burglary contrary to section 281 and 2 counts of stealing contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01volume 3 laws and revised laws of The Gambia.  The accused however pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge.

The particulars of offence stated that Ousman Ceesay the 1st accused and Samba Camara the 2nd accused on 27 January conspired  to commit a felony therein wit, housebreaking, burglary and stealing in the hours of 3:00 am to 4:00 am, breaking and entering the house of one Jennifer Wray with the intention to steal and  stole a smart phone marked Samsung A21 valued at D10,000, a Samsung tablet valued D15,000, a cash amount of D2,000, a cross bag valued D2,000 and other items worth D3,807 being the property of Jennifer Wray and Fedrica Coker.

The 1st and 2nd accused  in Pipeline on the same day  in the hours of 3:00 am to 4:00am broke and entered a house with the intention to steal and stole a bag containing  jewelry  value unknown being the property of one Karamo Danso.

The accused were each however granted a bail of D100,000 and a deposit of 2 Gambian sureties with valid phone number and address.

The matter was adjourned until 22 February 2024.
