Ramadan Karem in advance!

Muslims around the world will start observing Ramadan this weekend, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and one considered to be the most important month for Muslims around the world.

During this month, people fast from dawn to sunset every, while abstaining from acts such as drinking, eating and engaging in other immoral acts.

Considered to be holiest month in the Islamic calendar, Ramada is a month of heighted total devotion, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings. From scholars it was during this month that the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammed SAW.

As a tradition, Muslims especially those in good state of mind all over the world observed the Ramadan by fasting from dawn until dusk.

Being the fifth pillar of Islam, fasting according to religious scholars, is not only a physical act, but a spiritual one designed to bring closer to the Allah.

In some communities, believers spend a lot of times in prayers, reading the Holy Qur’an and giving out charities. Prayers in congregation especially during night (Nafil) also forms an important undertaking many Muslims observed, all designed to seek for Allah’s blessing.

In this vein, we called on fellow Muslims to show empathy, love and care to their fellow Muslims.

To the business community, they should always remember that Ramadan is a month of seeking Allah’s blessings. It is also observed that it is during this holy month that some businesses engaged in acts that is not only un-Muslims, but that leaves much to be desired.

It is observed that some businesses during this month take advantage to engage in acts that leave much to be desired. Some of this undesirable practice includes; the sky- rocketing of market food prices, hoarding to other practices. This are all designed to make more profits, at the expense of the ordinary poor.

It is therefore, important as Muslims to always show compassion and love to one and another. Also, let’s endeavor to observe this holy month as fasting during Ramadan is an important act of worship that teaches self-discipline, empathy and spiritual awareness.

The act is compulsory on all adult who are physical and mentally capable, though there are exception for those who are sick, pregnant, breastfeeding and travelling.

Some health experts revealed that fasting during Ramadan can have a number of health benefit including improved insulin, weight loss and reduced inflammation.

Muslims should always remember that all human being are on transition of this earth. Therefore, it is incumbent on all believers to rededicate our efforts towards making our transition to hereafter better a smooth and promising one.

Therefore, Ramadan is to purify the soul and demonstrate solidarity with the poor and the needy.  Ramadan Kareem in advanced to the Muslim Ummah!
