Young Jannehkoto FC were on Monday crowned champions of the 2008 Bekai sponsored Gunjur U-16 championship after defeating Black Panthers FC by 1-0 in a well contested game played at the Gunjur football field.
The match has been a show of youth talent and skills of play and has attracted a good number of spectators from Gunjur and its environs.
Young Jannehkoto lone goal was scored in the 66th minute by Buba Touray. Black Panthers fought back but they could not find the back of the net.
The winners went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D1, 000, whilst the runners-up went home with D700.00.
Meanwhile in another development, Gunjur zonal team has started training ahead of the forth-coming Gambia Football Association super cup nawettan tournament for the 2008 season.
As many as 42 players have been invited for training, out of which 22 players will be selected for the tournament.
