The wrestling sensitisation group, which is on a nationwide tour yesterday reached Region Two.
The officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the National Sports Council and the Gambia Wrestling Association yesterday held a meeting at Region Two in Brikama Governor’s Office.
The sensitisation forum which kicked off on 12 March 2013 from North Bank Region was meant for the revitalisation of wrestling throughout the regions.
In her welcoming remarks, the Deputy Governor of West Coast Region, Mrs. Fatou T. Sanyang, who spoke on behalf of Governor Lamin Sanneh, expressed delight at the tour and assured them of their commitment to enhance partnership in the revitalisation of the game in the region.
In recognizing the significance of sport, the Deputy Governor revealed their readiness and willingness to work hand-in-glove with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the Sports Council, whilst urging the youth to keep the momentum and take wrestling seriously.
The Executive Secretary of the NSC, Mamudou Max Jallow said they want each region to have its wrestling sub-committee and to go as far as to the grass root level to revitalise and develop the discipline.
The officials are expected to be in Banjul City Council today.
