A prosecution witness, Mariama Barry, Wednesday testified in the theft case involving one Momodou Wury Bah, at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tabally.
Barry, in her evidence, told the court she is a palm oil seller and that she recognised the accused person.
She recalled the month of November 2012 when she gave her money amounting to D100,000 to the accused for safe-keeping.
She said when she requested for her money, the accused repeatedly asked her to wait for a while.
“The last day I called the accused person, he switched off his mobile. I did not see the accused person again until at the police station where I demanded for my money,” Ms Barry told the court.
“The accused told me that he did take the money and involved in money doubling,” she said, adding that she was yet to get her money back.
She adduced that she later reported the matter to the police.
Hearing was adjourned till 27 March 2013.
