Volleyball Federation suspends players

The Gambia Volleyball Federation has suspended four Gamtel/Gamcel players after they became the latest group of players to breach the Federation’s disciplinary codes.

The players are Sanu Secka, Assan Jassey, Ebrima Ceesay and Cherno Sarr, who all played for Gamtel/Gamcel male volleyball team at the time of offences.

A statement from the Gambia Volleyball Federation said that on 6 December 2015 Gamtel/Gamcel and Serrekunda were scheduled to play at the East Park at 1500gmt. The visiting team Gamtel/Gamcel arrived 16:20 and the home team declared they would not play because the visitors had already come late hence the match officials awarded the points to Serrekunda East. The visiting team reacted by invading the court and interrupting the games.

The decision taken against the defaulters states: The disciplinary committee has suspended Sanu Secka from all activities that are organized, coordinated or officiated by the Gambia Volleyball Federation for one year with effect from December 8 in both national and international events.

Assan Jassey, Ebrima Ceesay and Cherno Sarr invaded the court and interrupted the female game between Serrekunda East and Gamtel/Gamcel therefore they are also suspended for one yearfrom all activities that are organised, coordinated or officiated by the Gambia Volleyball Federation with effect from December 8 in both national and international events.

Meanwhile the GVBF has also banned Alieu Barry of Gambia Armed Forces Volleyball Club for one game for masterminding a fight during the league match against Interior.
