Charges have been brought against Mrs. Sukai Mbye Bojang, the Secretary-General of the Gambia National Commission for the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the offence of stealing.
She was arraigned yesterday at the Banjul Magistrates' Court, charged with stealing, a charge she has denied.
Mrs. Sukai Mbye Bojang was, however, granted a court bail in the sum of D300, 000, with two Gambian sureties, one of whom must have a landed property within the Greater Banjul Area.
According to the particulars of offence, between 2001 and 2006, being employed as Secretary-General of UNESCO-NATCOM, Mrs. Sukai Mbye Bojang stole an amount of D173, 571.23, being the property of UNESCO-NATCOM.
Cadet Inspector Keita was the prosecuting officer, while Lawyer A. Ozoma appeared for Mrs. Bojang.
Principal Magistrate Emmanuel Nkea adjourned the case to 17th June 2010.
