Two tennis players win junior championship

The Gambia Lawn Tennis Association's duo Fabakary Drammeh and Danialla were crowned the champions of the just concluded Gambia Lawn Tennis Tournament, at the 12 and Under categories in what was described as a thrilling final at the Independence Stadium over the weekend.

Fabakary Drammeh, an aspiring young and stubborn tennis star proved too strong for his elder brother Ousman Drammeh, whom he beat by 6-3, 7-5 sets to win the accolade in the final of the male category.

The female final which has also witnessed another titanic tennis final saw Danialla eased pass Amie Badjie to go home with a trophy and tennis racket, while the champions Fabakary Drammeh, who celebrated one of the most important titles in his tennis career also ran away with a trophy, tennis racket and a grip.

The two champions it could be recalled, both progressed to the finals after a stunning performances against their respective opponents, namely Amie Badjie and Sally Jarjue in a highly-anticipated semi-final clashes at the Independence Stadium Tennis Courts after securing straight sets at the expense of fellow finalists.
