Three men were yesterday arraigned before acting-Principal Magistrate Taiwo Alagba of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, charged with giving false information to a public officer.
Demba Siera Cham, Amadou Cham and Fabakary Cham, all denied the charge and were each granted court bail of D500,000 with a Gambian surety who must deposit a national ID card with the court.
The case was at that juncture adjourned till 7 September 2011.
According to the particulars of offence, in 2011, the accused persons, Demba Siera Cham, Amadou Cham and Fabakary Cham, wrote a petition to the Office of the President, stating that the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Edward Anthony Gomez, had illegally acquired a land at Old Yundum, which was rightfully belonging to them and thereby committed an offence.
