The Late Pa Modou Sarr Basketball Tourney set to start today

Reports reaching Pointsport have stated that the seventh edition of the popular Late Pa Modou Sarr Memorial Basketball Tournament, which began in 2005, will take centre stage at the Serrekunda West mini-Stadium Basketball centre today.

The event, staged annually, is meant to remember the Late Sarr who is described by Andrew Jatta, one of the organisers of the basketball competition, as a great basketball star during his playing days.

Sarr, who attended Kanifing Primary School before moving to the Gambia Methodist Academy, died in a tragic car accident in America when returning home from a colleague basketball game in February of 2004.

Pa Modou Sarr, Pointsport understands, was appointed the first head boy of the Methodist Academy and was also an active member of the school’s basketball team before proceeding to the US to continue his basketball career.
The programme started on Wednesday with the Recitation of the Holly Quran at Pa Modou’s family residence in Kotu.
